First Congregational Church's Robinson Recital Series continues on Sunday afternoon, January 28 at 2:00 pm, with a program of chamber music involving the clarinet. Among the featured works are Mozart's "Kegelstatt" Trio in E-flat Major for clarinet, cello, and piano; Schubert's "The Shepherd on the Rock" for soprano, clarinet, and piano; and Mendelssohn's Konzertstuck in D Minor for two clarinets and piano. Performers include choir members -- clarinetists Andrew Nelson and Gary Hardesty, soprano Elizabeth Roghair, and pianist Kingsley Day.

Printed copies of Rev. Roghair’s sermons are available in the Narthex. His sermons are also posted on our website.

Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group - The next meeting of the Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion group will be held on today at 4:00 pm in the church house. Ann Vikner will lead the first of two discussions on The Team Of Rivals; ThePolitical Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin. This January 14 meeting will focus on the first section of the book, chapters 1-11, the period covering the years before the first inauguration. We invite everyone who is interested to attend these informal book discussions.

Donating chancel flowers is a wonderful way to honor someone special in your life, commemorate a special occasion (perhaps a birthday or anniversary), to say thank you, or to honor the memory of a friend or family member. The chancel flowers sit on the communion table in the chancel. The arrangement costs $40. Donations are acknowledged in the Sunday bulletin. For more information or to make a donation, contact the church office at 847 864-8332.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the First Congregational Church, or wish to know more about our church, please call the office at (847) 864 – 8332, or send an email to firstcongo@mcleodusa.net. Thank You!
