ANNOUNCEMENTS
The rose in the chancel is a “peace rose.” It symbolizes our prayers for peace in a troubled world.
The chancel flowers are given by the Sprague family in loving memory of Lucy Ruffin Sprague, Edward Meade Sprague, and Thomas A. Shaw.
The lay reader today is Joe Page.
You are welcomed and seated today by Alex Doty, Jean Herbert, Laura Wilson and Steve Wilson.
Thank you to Nick Tucker for hosting today’s Coffee Hour.
Thanks to Elizabeth Roghair and Andy Nelson for sharing their music with us today.
Donating chancel flowers is a wonderful way to honor someone special in your life, commemorate a special occasion (perhaps a birthday or anniversary), to say thank you, or to honor the memory of a friend or family member. The chancel flowers sit on the communion table in the chancel. The flowers cost $45. Donations are acknowledged in the Sunday bulletin. For more information or to make a donation, contact the church office at 847 864-8332.
At Ten Thousand Villages on Main Street we need new volunteers. Some of our faithful crew have graduated from high school or college and will not be returning this summer. Call the store at 847-733-8258 or drop in to pick up an application. Our volunteers have a lot of fun working in the store, and are rewarded by knowing how many people are able to escape poverty because they are helping. Our customers are the best, and it's fun to work with them, too. Don't miss this great opportunity to work in the best store around (that's what our customers say.) You even get a discount on purchases!
You are invited to join the virtual prayer circle at First Congregational Church. It is a wonderful way to develop a richer prayer life and stay connected to the needs of those in our congregation and around us. An e-mail is sent around weekly or so with a list of people to pray for and a suggested prayer for the week. If you are interested in being part of the church's virtual prayer circle or if you have a prayer concern you would like to offer up, please send a note to joysandconcerns@gmail.com. We want to respect privacy so we ask that you seek a person's permission before offering up their needs for prayer. We look forward to hearing from you! Pam Daniels, Prayer Circle Coordinator
Attention all teens!!
If you are interested in being an usher or lay reader
this summer, please contact Kingsley Day at kday@northwestern.edu
First Congregational has been offered the opportunity to have a booth at Evanston's sidewalk days July 27th to 29th. We need a volunteer to spearhead the effort, persons who would be willing to develop displays and handouts, and folks who could work the booth on those days. This is a wonderful chance bring our congregation beyond the church walls. Please be in touch about how you can help by responding to Beth Babbitt at 847-864-6959 or via e-mail at tomandbethborst@yahoo.com.
