ANNOUNCEMENTS
Welcome to First Congregational Church! We invite visitors to sign the Guest Book and join us for refreshments after worship. We also have an infant room, with a changing table, crib and comfortable rocker on the lower level. If you need those facilities during worship, an usher will be happy to escort you.
The rose in the chancel is a “peace rose.” It symbolizes our prayers for peace in a troubled world.
The lay reader today is Jennifer French.
You are welcomed and seated today by Nancy Anderson, Jennifer French, Nick Tucker and Sandy Whiteley.
The greeter this morning is Eric Erickson.
Thank you to Sandy Whiteley for hosting today’s coffee hour.
Think Green! Jewel Osco will be selling canvas tote bags soon. You can pick up a gently used tote bag from our narthex today and make a donation to our church. Faith and Public Issues.
Thanks to Sheran Fiedler, Kingsely Day, Andy Nelson and Gary Hardesty for sharing their music with us today.
This morning's service features the three-movement Concert Piece in D Minor by the celebrated German composer, pianist, and conductor Felix Mendelssohn (1809–1847). His works include symphonies, concertos, piano music, chamber music, and works for chorus and orchestra, notably the oratorios Elijah and Saint Paul. Mendelssohn's two Concert Pieces, Op. 113 and 114, were originally written for clarinet, basset horn, and piano.

There will be a Town Hall Meeting on ending the Iraq War, Tuesday, Aug 28, 7 pm at the Renaissance Hotel, 933 Skokie Blvd. Northbrook. Rep Schakowsky and Kirk have been invited to discuss the topic. Faith and Public Issues
You are invited to join the virtual prayer circle at First Congregational Church. It is a wonderful way to develop a richer prayer life and stay connected to the needs of those in our congregation and around us. An e-mail is sent around weekly or so with a list of people to pray for and a suggested prayer for the week. If you are interested in being part of the church's virtual prayer circle or if you have a prayer concern you would like to offer up, please send a note to joysandconcerns@gmail.com. We want to respect privacy so we ask that you seek a person's permission before offering up their needs for prayer. We look forward to hearing from you! Pam Daniels, Prayer Circle Coordinator.
